hey, there.
Hi, I’m Samantha Huggins. Glad you're here. I'm a mental health professional based in New York City, and I think a lot about connectedness, our relationships and what shapes us. From the smallest internal shift to the larger patterns we live inside of, everything is connected.
I take a holistic approach to psychotherapy, drawing on a range of disciplines to help us understand how our experiences, both internal and external, shape the way we carry our memories, our awareness, and our sense of self. I believe the things we need are often already within reach and that accessing them becomes possible when we build understanding and create moments for healing.
Using a variety of grounding, processing and coping strategies, I offer a confidential, brave space for you to explore where you are and support you as you work towards where you want to be.
how I approach this work.
I am a graduate of Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Work with my LMSW and I hold a BS in Plant Biology and Environmental Science from Arizona State University. I have been a certified doula for more than 15 years and a certified infant feeding counselor for almost as long.
When I started my work in the hard sciences, I focused exclusively on systems and relationships between plants, bacteria and fungi. Through these studies, I connect to what is possible within our communities, our families and our individual lives. I have since dedicated much of my professional life to building on these possibilities, drawing from the natural systems that are buzzing all around us.
I draw on granular elements to help ground us while we work through; incorporating things like breath, water, somatics, and gravity, into our time together.
And I am known to remind people often that just as in nature, our growth is not and will never be linear.

A space to explore and get to the root of what’s on your mind. Let’s talk about anxiety, depression, trauma, the psychology of wherever you are in your reproductive health, and your school and professional life. I have experience with midlife, early adulthood and teens.
— Individual PsychotherapyRelationships are an evolution and so are you. It can be scary to grow together and then apart and back again. Sometimes we could use a little help with that. Let’s talk about it. I have been working with couples navigating themselves and their families for over a decade as doula and now as a therapist.
— Couples and FamiliesHi. I see you there. There is a lot of world in front of you. Sometimes its nice to talk it all through with someone who doesn’t have the passwords to your socials. Conversations are always private unless you are in danger or are endangering someone else. I’m here to listen, build skills towards resilience and help you sift through the noise and get organized.
